Sports Medicine Topic of Community Seminar

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – University Healthcare and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program titled Concussion Discussion.
The seminar will be held on Tuesday, October 20 in the auditorium of the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus. The guest speaker is Ryan Spouse, MD, board certified in family medicine with certification in sports medicine. He will give an overview of concussion in sports, the seriousness of injury and the impact on the player and team.
Dr. Sprouse is a member of the Jefferson Medical Center medical staff and an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine. He practices at University Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine at Windmill Crossing and Women’s Health & Family Medicine in Ranson.
Registration for the mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 pm with the program to follow from 7 – 8 pm. Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar.
