Depression Topic of Community Seminar

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – University Healthcare and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program titled Depression and the Importance of Prioritizing our Psychological Health.
The seminar will be held on Tuesday, November 17 in the auditorium of the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the Berkeley Medical Center campus. The guest speaker is Stephanie McGraw, PsyD, a West Virginia licensed psychologist with University Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry in Martinsburg.
Dr. McGraw, an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine, will address how to differentiate sadness from symptoms of depression, and identify ways we unintentionally put ourselves at risk. She will discuss how to implement techniques for overcoming barriers to psychological health and when to seek professional help.
Registration for the mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 pm with the program to follow from 7 – 8 pm. Pre-registration is no longer necessary. Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar.
This community mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of University Healthcare and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division.
