Welcome to Center for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine. We specialize in treating wounds by using a team approach. The most important part of the team is you! The Center’s specially-trained physicians and clinicians will evaluate & assess your wound and then create an individualized treatment designed just for you. We will first determine what is causing your wound and what may be interfering with the body’s natural healing process.
Some common underlying conditions which may contribute to slow healing:
- Diabetes
- Circulation problems
- Inability to feel sensation in feet
- Inability to turn and reposition adequately
- Pressure
- Poor nutrition
- Infection
As part of your plan, your wound care physician may:
- Order tests such as blood tests, x-rays, and vascular studies
- Consult with specialists in infectious disease, vascular diseases, nutrition, diabetes management, pressure relieving shoes, customized compression stockings, as well as many others which may help to heal your wound.
It is important for you to actively participate in your care in order to heal as quickly as possible. It is equally important to us that you always feel comfortable discussing your care with the team. We are here for you!
Some ways to increase the chances for best outcomes are:
- Follow the treatment plan developed by your wound physician
- Change wound dressings as ordered
- Keep your weekly visits… call if you need to cancel
- Follow diet and exercise plans
- Follow up with specialists as well as your family physician
- Eat plenty of protein and drink fluids to stay hydrated
- Keep blood glucose levels in control
- Wear and/or use pressure relief shoes and devices as instructed
We look forward to working with you to heal your wound!
