Thank you for your interest in the University Healthcare foundations’
efforts to support Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center.
By working together, we can enhance the excellence of our medical
centers now and in the future. City Hospital Foundation and Jefferson
Health Care Foundation are both nonprofit organizations dedicated to
raising private funds to support patient care and comfort at Berkeley
Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center.
The foundations depend on the generosity of individuals, corporations
and foundations to ensure that they can continue to make access to high
quality health care available to everyone. They fund outstanding care
in many specialties including emergency and trauma care; education of
the next generation of health care professionals; and research to

City Hospital Foundation
Formerly known as the Gateway Foundation, City Hospital Foundation was
organized in 1984 to raise funds to support Berkeley Medical Center and
its affiliates.
A volunteer Board of Directors governs the foundation and assures that
its resources are used where the need is greatest. All donations to the
City Hospital Foundation are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Monies
raised are used to fund patient care equipment at Berkeley Medical
Center, create new or enhanced health care programs in the Eastern
Panhandle and provide financial assistance to individuals interested in
pursuing health professions.
Jefferson Health Care Foundation
The Jefferson Health Care Foundation was founded in 1999 as a nonprofit
foundation with a mission to aid, strengthen, support and benefit the
services and goals of Jefferson Medical Center and its affiliates.
Led by a volunteer Board of Directors, the Jefferson Health Care
Foundation’s mandate is to provide resources that allow Jefferson
Medical Center to purchase equipment, undergo renovations, support
existing services and create new health services and programs. All
donations to the Jefferson Health Care Foundation are tax-deductible as
allowed by law and are used to support patient care services at
Jefferson Medical Center.
