University Healthcare – Maternal/Family Education

Birthing Class Series

This program involves a four-week class series that provides information on maternal changes, normal fetal development, nutrition, common discomforts and solutions, stages of labor and delivery, breathing and relaxation techniques, pain management, cesarean delivery, infant care and more.

Berkeley Medical Center:

Sessions are held in the Berkeley Medical Center’s 8th Floor Classroom. The fee is $75 for the entire series, or $15 per class. Pre-register is required by calling 304-264-1297(Menu Selection #2).

Jefferson Medical Center:

Sessions are held in the Jefferson Medical Center’s 1st Floor Conference Room. The cost is $60 for series. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-728-1713.

Breastfeeding Class — FREE

Taught by a certified lactation consultant, mothers will learn the basics of breastfeeding their infants. Sessions are held in Berkeley Medical Center’s Meeting Room 1. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-264-1270 weekdays between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Childbirth Refresher Class

This class provides an overview of the latest developments in birthing options, medications and comfort techniques. Classes are held in Berkeley Medical Center’s Meeting Room 2. The cost is $15. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-264-1297 (Menu Selection #2).

Sibling Class

Help your young children prepare for their new role as a big brother or sister. The classes are held in Berkeley Medical Center’s 8th Floor Classroom. The cost is $10 per family and must be pre-paid. Pre-registration is required by calling 304-264-1270 weekdays between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
