Tennis Classic Winners Announced

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Winners of the twelfth annual University Healthcare Foundation Frank Sabado, Jr, MD Tennis Classic, which raised a record $21,800 in net proceeds to purchase equipment for the surgery department at Berkeley Medical Center, were recently announced.
The champions were David Marquette in the men’s division and Tracy Housden in the women’s division. Finishing second were Al Dela Paz in the men’s division and Joanne Wadsworth in the women’s division. Lewis Charette had the most aces. Forty players participated in the tournament, which was held on September 13 at St. James School.
The University Healthcare Foundation sponsors this annual fall fund raising event along with a group of local physicians and community leaders who serve on the organizing committee.
Since the tournament was established in 2004, over $150,000 has been raised to fund patient care equipment at Berkeley Medical Center as well as the hospital’s community service projects.
